Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 10:05:33 -0700 Hi Greg, Anytime you're on the street you run the risk of getting ticketed - however, if you are using caution and skating responsibly, it's unlikely that you'll be hassled. It's best to use the established Bicycle Routes when skating in SF. You can find a map of these streets on page 12 of the current SF Pacific Bell Yellow pages directory. If you want hills, fewer cars and some great views, I suggest the Presidio. Enter the Arguello gate (avoid heading down or North on Presidio drive) and with some scouting around and a map, there are several great loops on smooth pavement. I would strongly advise against skating on streets like Van Ness, Fell, Oak, etc. These streets are too congested and you'd run a higher risk of getting ticketed. We're still working on changing the laws to allow access to designated streets in the City... we are making steady progress, but it's been a real exercise in patience.
