Although the legislation has been signed, it is not in effect until 1/1/98. [more of] Being left alone. It's had to say the exact level of influence Willie has or has not had on this issue. I do know, he has had little to do with our efforts on the local language or the State level activity so far... although he is aware of our efforts. He may have had something to do with the transfer of the Police Sergeant who was leaning on us in the Northern Station (Union street FN Skate ticket fiasco many months ago). If he was involved, this certainly would have sent a message to our girls and boys in blue. Supervisor Ammiano, feels we are being left alone because of our willingness to cooperate through the "proper" channels. At the onset of this process, D. and I initiated *many* meetings with anyone who would listen (police, etc.) to foster good will, ask if there was any way we could help, and to educate. This appears to have paid off so far. Paul ----- >Thanks for the info re AB 915.
